Definition of Health
In 1948 the World Health Organization (WHO) defined health as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. In 1986, they further defined it as a resource of everyday life, not the objective of living. This also means that health is a resource to support a person’s function in wider society, rather than an end in itself. In 2009, a researcher defined health as the ability of a body to adapt to new threats and infirmities. It was based on the idea that the past few decades have seen modern science take substantial strides in the awareness of diseases by understanding how they work, discovering new ways to slow, stop or cure them and acknowledging that an absence of pathology may not be possible. Health is important to live life to the fullest. Living a healthy life improves longevity, prevent diseases, improve mental health and lead a productive life. It helps a person to perform daily routine in a smooth manner. The health of an individual is not something that is to be neglected.
