It’s been well over a year since a mysterious virus causing flu-like symptoms first discovered in Wuhan, China entered our global consciousness and has since become a household name. In the many months since, we seem to have finally gotten a grip on the global pandemic until new variants of Covid-19 threaten to upend plans of slowly reopening our societies and reclaiming any sense of pre-pandemic normalcy.

When it comes to achieving optimal health, we all need to be reminded of the interconnectedness of humans, fauna, flora and its shared Earth environment.  Fruits and vegetables from farm to table can be dangerous to humans if harvested from contaminated soil, spread with toxic  chemicals and eaten raw without washing in clean water.

Fixed Income investments are a type of investment that offers a fixed rate of return, usually at a fixed interest rate or dividend payments. Then, when fixed income securities mature, investors are paid the initial amount they had invested plus the interest they have received.

While we work hard to make a living, it is quite different to working hard to lead a well-lived life.

17th century French mathematician Blaise Pascal said, “La chose la plus importante a toute la vie est le choix de metier: le hasard en dispose.” The choice of profession which is the most important thing in life is driven by chance. Except perhaps for a few, most of us have landed in a profession that we never thought of before. Time and circumstance do work together to explain where and how we make a living today.

Wherever you are in this planet, the likelihood is that you are dealing with the same challenge as everyone else is – how to protect yourself from the COVID-19 virus so that you can continue to be a productive and useful member of society.
The challenge is not easy as the virus has manifested various differing traits causing varying symptoms and reactions from patients. In the absence of a tried and tested antidote, people have come up with their own versions of a “cure” ranging from the silly to the sublime.

Masks on our faces, sanitizing gels in our purses, socially distanced at a meter and half at the very least. We might now live in a time where the “C” in BCE and CE could very well stand for “corona” or “COVID-19”.
